Working Conditions & Environment

There are many different places that a bartender can work at such as, bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, airports, and large concert halls. Most of the time bartenders work indoors but occasionally they work outside for large parties or other events. They tend to work 7-8 hours a day, 30-40 hours a week, and are on their feet most of their shift. Most shifts are every weekend since Saturday is the busiest day in the bar, club, ect. And they work during the nights. Bartenders take up to 5-10 vacation days and mostly work part time so you can do other activities working part time.

  1. As a full-time college student, bartending is big commitment. Like you said, its 7-8 hours per night, plus opening or closing duties, and 30 hours are about the minimum a bar will give you. Amongst the long night, there is an upside with these conditions. The devoted work ethic, conquering stressful situations, social skills, and product selling can be huge up sells on a resume.

That’s not the reason I started bartending, my reasoning was for the money. I do like the social aspects with friends and some customers that come with the job title, as well. I recommend students who have a strong personality and motivation to take on bartending because it generates much more traits than one would think.
